GNP Party Leader Attacked with Box Cutter!
I'm a few days late with this one but....
Korea's Grand National Party chairwoman Park Geun Hye was attacked Saturday (Sunday Korean time) while attending a political rally. She was about to step up to the podium to speak on behalf of Seoul mayoral candidate Oh Se Hoon when a man sliced her neck with a box cutter. The wound measured 11 cm (a little over 4 inches long) and went from her ear to her jaw, nearly missing her jugular and requiring 60 stitches.
The attacker was a 8 time convicted felon and had spent 15 years in jail. It's been revealed now that his target was actually mayoral candidate Oh Se Hoon.
Park Geun Hye is the daughter of former assassinated President Park Jung Hee and is believed to be one of the top candidates in the country's next Presidential election.
Some of these Koreans are so radical and crazy that it's sad to see such astonishing events. People cutting off their fingers and setting themselves on fire in support of Dokdo is one thing, but to inflict harm on another is just insane.

Indeed. Thanks for posting this one, Myong. Man, there were so many mosaics for this news story on Korean TV -- mosaic'd GNP leader's face, mosaic'd on the attacker -- man, why even show the story? U.S. TV showed the thing in full uncensorship.
Bottom line it IS a shame whenever something like this happens to political leaders. I mean, we blame 'em, we satirize 'em, we better start holding 'em more accountable, but, cripes, don't cut 'em or shoot 'em for Pete's sake!
Thing that bothers me is, there seemed to be about three bodyguards around Park -- earphones and all -- right before she stepped up, and seemingly NONE around her when she was attacked. Now, I'm not talkin' conspiracy here, I'm just sayin', where were they, alla' sudden?
Going back to the S. Korean TV news coverage, man, this seemed THE news story, the ONLY news story on the day it happened. They had every angle on the story -- Roh's comments, the story of the culprits, then there was some other politician attacked.
I dunno. Those S. Korean bodyguards were there and alla' sudden, not. I just found that weird.
