Okinawan Festival 2006
So I went to volunteer at the Okinawan Festival this past Saturday and had a great time, despite all the hard labor I was doing. Wayne's World and I mainly helped with the food booths, unloading loads of food that came from Jefferson School and from the reefer container, packing them onto golf carts, and then delivering them to the various food booths. We volunteered from about 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM and man, was I sore after! My body is definitely not what it was 5 years ago!
Anyways, in between all the work I was able to take a few photos of the scenery and good eats.
The andagi makers were hard at work...
And the people were lining up for them!
Here's one of the performing groups (there seemed to be a lot of older, traditional acts when I was there)
Here's a photo with possible Senator-to-be Ed Case. Daniel Akaka, Mufi Hannemen, and Nestor Garcia were there too, making there rounds but I didn't take photos with them. Senator Akaka looked a lot older in person than he does on TV and I was afraid I'd knock him over if I stood next to him cuz he looked so frail. I didn't pose with Mufi cuz if you aren't Michael Jordan, I'm not taking a photo with a guy taller than me! =) And as for Nestor Garcia.....well I didn't see a need to take a photo with him. Sorry to the Garcia fans out there!
A good look at the oki-dog! Hot dog, Zippy's chili, shoyu pork, and lettuce all wrapped up in a tortilla. Yummy! Which part of this delicious concoction is Okinawan again? LOL

Had a good time this year and look forward to more fun next year!

Yep, great food. Stopped by for a bit (found a "secret" parking area too, ooooooh, sshhhhhhh! Will use for future events in that area).
Heh . . . did you say "reefer," Myong?
My wife's Okinawan and her parents also volunteered at the Festival. Great pictures. Love the food pictures...drool...
Hey, I saw you on Ed Case's commercial. Did he get your approval?
No! I better see some checks coming in the mail! A bunch of candidates are looking for my vote! LOL
If you look closely, you can see Wayne's World's hands and the back of his head taking a picture of Ed Case and I with my dica too.
