Korean Actress Jeon Do Yeon Wins Best Actress at Cannes
Congratulations to Jeon Do Yeon for winning the Best Actress Award at the highly acclaimed Cannes Film Festival. She won the award for her performance in the film Secret Sunshine, directed by Lee Chang Dong who's also directed Oasis and Peppermint Candy. This guy really knows how to draw out top notch performances from his actors.
Jeon is the first Korean to win this award at Cannes and the 2nd Asian (first was Maggie Cheung) to do so. This is a really huge and prestigious accomplishment for Koren film and she deserves all the accolades as she is one of Korea's finest actresses.
Congratulations!

Yeah, I like see this film (hopefully will be at the Fall HIFF, or that Korean film showcase HIFF has as well). Kept hearing she did a really great acting job in the weeks 'fore she won the award. The newsguy reporting on the award spent almost 10 minutes talkin' 'bout it (don't know what he was sayin', but, was framed with importance). Good, good accolades -- who says Korean film is dead?
Didn't Lee Chang win something at Cannes as well?
