HD DVD Still Has A Chance!

Good news from Paramount and Dreamworks. They will be releasing their films solely on HD DVD format, joining Universal in this decision. Meanwhile, Fox and Sony are going Blu-Ray only. Dammit! I took a gamble with HD DVD because of its cheaper player. I hope it's the winning format in the end!

Fox & Sony were always on Blu-ray side. Fox released Blu-ray titles early but stopped for a long time. Plus there titles were bare bones and high MSRP.

Before Paramount/Dreamworks jumped ship over to the HD-DVD side they were neutral along with Warner.

Now the exclusive Blu-Ray Movie Studios are. Disney, MGM, Fox, Sony and Lionsgate.

The exclusive HD-DVD's Movie Studios now are Universal, Paramount, DreamWorks, HBO, and maybe New Line.

I am not sure where Magnolia fits in.

I made my choice stricly on price of the standalone Hi-Def players. Blu-ray were just to damn expensive . Even thought the PS3 was about $500-$700 cheaper than Blu-ray stanalone players. I still was not going to pay $600 for one.

As soon as I can get a Blu-ray standalone player under $300. I will go neutral. Right now I am happy with my Toshiba A2 and my over 50 hd-dvds. The last 32 hd-dvds I have brought all have been under $16. And that includes many of the $39.99 Combo hd-dvds.
